HTC Desire 728 rumors: New HTC mid-range handset gets certified by TENAA

A new mid-range smartphone by Taiwanese company HTC Corporation has just made its way through China's Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center (TENAA), according to reports. The new smartphone has not been announced yet by HTC but according to speculations, the phone might be the HTC Desire 728.

The new smartphone, listed by TENAA as the HTC D728w model, is expected to sport a 5.5 inch HD display screen with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and
comes in a 157.9 x 77.8 x 7.87 mm body, weighing about 150 grams, according to VR Zone.

The new HTC device is expected to come with a sharp 13-megapixel camera on the back and a five-megapixel camera on the front. Under the hood, reports say it will be powered by a 1.3 GHz octa-core MediaTek processor and will have 2800 mAh battery, 2GB RAM and up to 16GB internal memory storage. Earlier rumors suggested it might pack an unknown Qualcomm Snapdragon, instead.

For the operating system, the new phone will run on the new Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system along with HTC's sense Desire user interface (UI). It will support dual SIM functionality and 4G LTE connectivity. VR Zone reports that the colors available will be black, white, grey, red, and gold.

As of this time, no details in regard to the price and release date of the HTC D728w handset have been announced yet.

Another handset that also passed through TENAA recently is Xiaomi's Redmi Note 2 device. Slash Gear reports that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 might not come out with a fingerprint scanner as previously expected. In addition, the Chinese mobile device maker is expected to launch a new smartphone on July 16. However, Xiaomi has not mentioned which smartphone it plans to launch, as some are speculating it might be the Xiaomi Mi 5 along with its larger variant, the Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus.
