HTC Desire series launch: New Desire 830 in the works?

HTC’s official website

Fresh from releasing its new flagship the 10 lineup, HTC is said to also thinking of expanding its mid-range lineups with a new Desire handset. The rumored Desire 830 is reportedly coming out soon, as supposed specs and images start to leak online.

According to PocketNow, HTC plans to release the new Desire 830 sometime this year. However, it may be towards the end of 2016, for it is said that the supposed leaks "prematurely" exposed the Desire 830.

At first glance, the industry follower said that the Desire 830 seems to have a similar design and build with the recently-released Desire 825. However, being the latest one after three previous Desire iterations, the specs sheet for the Desire 830 makes it to be an upgraded version for the mid-range Desire lineup.

The upcoming new mid-range iteration has a 5.5-inch display with full HD resolution, slightly better than the 720 x 1280 screen on the Desire 825. Storage-wise, the upcoming Desire 830 also holds double the onboard storage (32 GB against the 16-GB one on Desire 825). However, being a mid-range lineup, HTC is expected to feature an octa-core 1.3 GHz MediaTek MT6753 processor in the device, paired with at least 3 GB of RAM.

Phone Arena notes that while the Desire 830 seems similar to the build and design that is signature to the lineup, it may launch as a slim and sleek Desire handset. Based on the supposed leaked images, it is unclear if the new Desire handset has a traditional micro-USB port, or it will have a new, slimmer port. HTC seems to be favoring USB Type-C connectivity recently.

The industry observer also stated that while HTC has yet to confirm the details, fans can expect the Desire 830 to launch soon, since an imminent reveal of new HTC products usually follows right after an avalanche of supposed "leaked" pictures and specs.
