The HTC One M9 has long been rumored to get a bigger variant, which the tech community dubs as the HTC One M9 Plus. The company has not said a word about its existence but its recent tweet is believed to be hinting at what the fans are waiting for.

The overt use of the word "huge" seems to be enough for fans to know that the HTC One M9 Plus is for real. Media outlets also suggest that HTC USA may be hinting at the HTC Butterfly 3, a 5.2-inch handset that is also rumored to come out alongside the HTC One M9 on March 1. Tech Radar surmises that the company may have gotten a little excited about its upcoming feats.

Nevertheless, the rumors of an alleged HTC One M9 Plus remain persistent. A new Compubench benchmark is making the rounds, showing the specs of the HTC One M9 and the HTC One M9 Plus. The leak suggests that the latter comes with a 5.1-inch Quad HD display, which makes it sharper than the former. GSM Arena noted that there may be some error in there and that the device could come in a much bigger display than that. Besides, the base model is already at 5 inches.

The alleged HTC One M9 Plus packs an octa-core MediaTek MT6795 chipset and a PowerVR Rogue G6200 as well as a hefty 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage capacity. The leak also claims that both HTC One M9 variants house a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera as well as a 12-megapixel front-facing shooter. The latter facilitates a 2048 x 1536 pixels selfie video.

If the HTC One M9 Plus is another of HTC's surprises together with the HTC One M9 and the HTC Butterfly 3, then that's a big lineup of handsets that users can expect to see at the Taiwanese manufacturer's upcoming event that will happen on March 1.
