HTC M9 'Hima' release date, specifications and price rumors: What to expect

trustedreviews

HTC's upcoming M9 'Hima' smartphone will serve as the company's flagship device after taking the reins from the HTC One M8 smartphone. While there is limited information regarding accurate specifications present inside the upcoming device, several rumors are hinting towards the One M9 'Hima' being released in the month of March and carrying a brand new chipset.

The One M9 'Hima' was not showcased at this year's International 2015 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, but that still has not prevented rumors from disseminating the hardware details and additional features of the One M9 'Hima'. The latest rumor is revolving around the different components that will be present inside the One M9 'Hima'. The Chinese variant is expected to sport a MediaTek chipset while the regular version is going to be equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 SoC.

Earlier in 2014, it was rumored that the HTC One M9 'Hima' will be delayed because Qualcomm is facing overheating and GPU driver issues with its Snapdragon 810 chipsets, but while the chip maker has refuted these allegations, there is a possibility that HTC will be looking to introduce its Chinese variant. Furthermore, one of the reasons why HTC did not showcase its One M9 'Hima' at CES 2015 was that it is rumored to be displaying it at the Mobile World Congress, which is scheduled to take place from March 2 to 5 in Barcelona.

While the One M9 'Hima's hardware specifications have not been confirmed by the company, the smartphone is rumored to come with a 5 inch screen, a display of 1080p Super LCD3 resolution, 3 GB of RAM, a 13 megapixel front and 20.7 rear camera. It might also feature a very slim form factor; possessing a thickness of just 7 mm and will house a 2840 mAh battery. The One M9 'Hima' will also be running Google's Lollipop operating system out of the box but it has not been confirmed which version.

The pricing of the device has also not been confirmed but HTC will be looking to maintain it at the same price that the One M8 came with during its launch period ($649.99 off-contract for the base model).
