Nexus 9 vs iPad Mini 3 comparison: Which new tablet is worth every cent?

Google took the wraps off its Nexus tablet for this year and it lives up to its reputation in releasing amazing tablets.  The tech giant surprised the industry and consumers with a tablet that boasts top-of-the-line specs and features.

Today, the tablet will battle head on with Apple's miniature tablet, the iPad Mini 3. Below is the comparison between the specs and features of the HTC Nexus 9 and iPad Mini 3.

Design

The iPad Mini 3 packs a form factor and aluminum casing similar to its predecessor. The Nexus 9 also packs the same design seen in other HTC devices as the tablet boasts an aluminum finish and BoomSound speakers in front.

Screen Display

Both tablets feature almost the same screen display with a slight difference of one inch. The Nexus 9 sports an 8.9-inch 2048 x 1536 resolution display with a density of 287 ppi. Meanwhile, the iPad Mini 3 is slightly smaller with its 7.9-inch screen panel and Retina display with 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution.

Processor

The new HTC Nexus 9 is powered by a dual-core Nvidia Tegra K1 that has 64-bit architecture paired with 2 GB of RAM. The iPad Mini 3, on the other hand, is equipped with last year's dual-core 1.3 GHz A7 processor with 64-bit processor paired with 1 GB of RAM.

Operating system

Apple's miniature tablet comes with iOS 8 and enjoys new features such as Apple Pay and iHealth. HTC-Google Nexus 9, on the other hand, is one of the first devices to run with the new Android 5.0 Lollipop, which also comes with new features such as Material Design, security and battery saver features.

Camera

There is a large difference between the cameras of the two tablets. The Nexus 9 has an 8 MP primary camera at the back and a 1.6 MP front-facing camera. The iPad Mini 3 retained its predecessor's 5 MP back camera and 1.5 MP front-facing camera.

Battery

The Nexus 9 is backed by a 6700 mAh battery, while the iPad Mini 3 has 6470 mAh battery capacity.
