HTC had just launched its newest flagship, the One A9. One of the features of the new iteration is that despite impressive and high-spec features, the One A9 came out with a $399 price tag.

However, this tag will not be the final price for the new flagship and will change in the succeeding weeks after the device's release.

According to industry insider The Verge, the $399.99 price for the new One A9 in the United States is part of a promotional offer, and this pricing will be changed after the deal expires. A statement sent to the website said, "The One A9 price in the US is a very limited-time promotional offer for that region's online store, as well as select HTC-only franchise stores. The offer is a special promotional pre-sale and is expected to conclude once the One A9 is available on-shelf at major retail and distributor partners."

Those who want to avail of the special promo price will have until the first week of next month to buy the HTC One A9. The promo will end on November 7. After the promo deal expires, the device will have a new price tag of $499.99, $100 more than its introductory price.

When the news about the upcoming price change broke, some observers were not keen on the new price tag. According to EnGadget, an increase of $100 is hefty, when it compares with the specs of the device. The $500 price range is already considered as an amount for premium devices. However, considering that the One A9 only has above-average specs such as a Snapdragon 617 processor, which is still a step below the 800 series some premium flagships use.

Meanwhile, aside from the price, some fans are debating whether the One A9 itself is a novelty idea from HTC, as the form factor closely resembles the iPhones from Apple. The comparisons became so frequent that HTC issued a statement about the matter, saying that they did not copy anything from anyone.
