It looks like a new variant of the new HTC One A9 is coming. A certain device now being dubbed as the HTC One A9w has been certified by the Chinese certification agency TENAA, which hints that it will be out in the market soon.

The listing of the device shows that the handset looks identical to the recently launched handset. Both phones seem to share very similar specs sheet. It is expected that the mysterious device will come in a 5-inch AMOLED display with Full HD resolution.

It was also revealed during the HTC One A9w's TENAA visit that there will be an octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz powering it up. The chipset that will drive the slab was not named, though it is believed that it will also get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, the same as that of the One A9.

It follows the same memory and space configuration as that of the A9, which has 2GB RAM in its 16-GB version and 3 GB RAM for its 32-GB variant. The One A9w, however, looks like it only has the former to offer. In this aspect of the smartphone, a real difference also emerges.

As Phone Arena pointed out, the storage is expandable with a microSD card slot intact but only up to 128 GB, which is way less compared to the other HTC handset that allows expansion up to a whopping 2TB.

The imaging department remained untouched though. That being said, HTC One A9w should sport a 13-MP rear-facing camera with dual LED flash and HD video recording capability as well as a 4-MP front-facing selfie shooter.

At the moment, media outlets have no word as to when the device will be made official by the Taiwan-based tech firm. However, knowing that it already made past the certification process means that the device is not too far away from its official outing.
