Rumors have it that tech manufacturer HTC has been hard at work fleshing out a new hero phone, the One A9. If the leaked images that recently surfaced were any indication, then HTC fans may see the new flagship much earlier than expected.

In a Twitter post by famed tipster and tech leaker @OnLeaks, a set of images have been showcased, highlighting a dummy unit of the rumored HTC flagship codenamed "Aero" a.k.a. the One A9. Although the dummy unit is used for display (in this case in AT&T stores), most dummy manufacturers churn out display pieces that look as close as possible to the real thing. So if these dummy images would turn out to be accurate, then the pictures particularly show how the A9 would look like when it rolls out.

Checking out the pictures, The Verge believes that the HTC One A9 looks a lot like another flagship device, the iPhone 6. In addition to the close-to-the-dimensions feature of the device, the unibody and tapered corners and edges design of the One A9 are also reminiscent of the Apple flagship. Meanwhile, the HTCOne  A9 also features a raised circular mound on its camera lens, as well as having the SIM and microSD cards tray along the side – which also tells fans that the A9 may launch with a non-removable battery and back panel. In addition, the holes on the bottom of the unit, which could be the grill speakers, are also an iPhone staple.

In terms of specs, the One A9 may be released as a midrange flagship phone by HTC, which explains the plastic side chassis. According to TechRadar, HTC will supposedly roll out the new One A9 with an octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor, at least 2 GB of RAM, and a 1080 x 1920 HD 5-inch display. No specific release window has been confirmed for the device, but speculations place HTC to be unveiling the One A9 at a scheduled press event on Oct. 20.
