The Android Marshmallow operating system (OS) made its official debut last week. Now, HTC has announced that they will be among the first vendors in line to showcase the capabilities of the new Google offering.

Not long after Google launched their latest line of smartphones that feature the Marshmallow OS, HTC made news of their own after declaring that they will be releasing a new phone that will be equipped with the new OS on Oct. 20.

HTC will be holding a virtual event for their new device, although they have yet to officially announce what they will be showcasing.

According to Pocket Lint, although still unofficial, it's very likely that HTC will be announcing their One A9 smartphone at the event.

The One A9 has been mentioned a lot in online rumors lately, and its specs have also been supposedly leaked. According to the latest details, HTC's One A9 will feature the Snapdragon 617 processor as well a five-inch full HD display.

In addition to the rumored One A9 possibly hitting the market already with the Android Marshmallow OS in tow, other devices from HTC are also expected to receive the latest update very soon.

According to iDigital Times, two of HTC's flagship units, those being the One M8 and One M9, are expected to receive the Marshmallow update before the end of the year, although an exact date was not specified.

Outside of those two, more devices from HTC are also in line to receive the Marshmallow update.

Units currently confirmed to be receiving the update include the Butterfly 3, Desire 816, 820 and 826, the E8 EYE, One E8, One E9, One E9+, One M9+ and also the One ME. HTC has yet to formally announce when these units will be getting the Android Marshmallow update.

Additional units from HTC will be getting the Marshmallow update likely after the aforementioned devices have received it.
