HTC One Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Update via CyanogenMod 10.2 ROM [DETAILS]; HTC devices skipping 4.2 update

The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update will be rolling out to HTC devices in North America. The update has been confirmed for HTC One by Jason Mackenzie, HTC"s president of global sales.

HTC will skip the Android 4.2 update and provide updates to 4.3 directly. Mackenzie confirmed this to a Twitter user who asked about the Jelly bean update to 4.2 He tweeted, "We definitely care and want you to have great experience. 2.2 is minor update so decided to go straight to 4.3."

When asked why HTC is skipping 4.2, Mackenzie replied, "because 4.3 is so close. And 2.2 offered limited customer benefit." He also added that HTC plans to have all US skus updated before the end of September.

HTC One and Droid DNA are both slated to receive the update by the end of next month. However, the HTC One X in Europe is currently receiving the Android 4.2.2 Sense 5 update. The HTC One X 4.2.2 update may hit US devices only by the end of this month. However, if it does not receive the update by then, it might also skip straight to 4.3.

Meanwhile, for HTC One users who can't wait until September to receive the official update, the unofficial CyanogenMod (CM) 10.2 custom ROM update has been released. A tutorial on how to install CM10.2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean custom ROM on HTC One can be seen here.
