Although HTC has just released a new flagship, the One A9, rumors about another upcoming iteration have not died down. Considering that the A9 flagship only has above-average specs, speculations about the premium-specs M10 flagship iteration have been floating online.

According to Yibada, HTC hopes to turn around the slump in its sales for this year by releasing an all-new follow-up to the One M9. The report added that HTC may also be planning to change its marketing strategies for the new flagship. For instance, instead of continuing the M- series, the new flagship will be branded under a different lineup. In a report by Android Pit, even with numerous flagships under the M-series, from the M7 up to the recent M9 Plus, HTC's sales continued to take a slide and need a fresh start.

Instead of it being the continuation, the new flagship will be branded as O2 – a breath of fresh air, so to speak.

However the new flagship will be branded, it is rumored that the new HTC smartphone will be packed with cutting-edge, next-gen features. For starters, it is speculated that HTC is planning to install the latest Qualcomm chipset for the new flagship. The Snapdragon 820 processor is leagues away from the 810 architecture (which was plagued with overheating issues early on). In addition to a new processor, the One M10 is also said to run on at least 4 GB of RAM and will have options for storage. According to dedicated fansite htcm10one.com, the new device could carry 64 GB and 128 GB of storage, speculated to be expandable via microSD.

Meanwhile, it is still unknown if the new flagship will come with a 5.0- or a 6.0-inch display, but it can be inferred that it will still come with premium body design. The M10 is expected to come with an all-metal chassis like the recent A9 release. Moreover, the M10 could also launch with a metal-glass form factor, much like other premium flagships from competitors.
