Taiwanese OEM manufacturer HTC stays true to its words in delivering the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS within 90 days since its official roll out in November. HTC announced that some HTC One M8 users started receiving the sweet taste of the operating system.

HTC's Senior Global Online Communications Manager Jeff Gordon announced in Twitter that HTC One M8 users in Europe will be the first in line to get the update. The HTC exec, however, did not specify which particular markets are receiving the update.

"HTC One (M8) owners in Europe, have a sweet tooth this morning? Check your software updates!" reads Gordon tweet posted earlier this week.

It is a no-brainer that the unlocked version of HTC One M8 will be the first device to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update. Just like any other updates, the HTC One M8 will be rolled out in stages, which means that some users may receive the update earlier than others.

With this news, HTC One M8 users should expect a notification in the notification bar about the update, which users can tap to download and install. Users can also check if the update has landed in their smartphone thru Settings > System updates > HTC software update > Check now.

Meanwhile, Android 5.0 Lollipop OS has delivered major updates to the Android OS. It comes with a new user interface dubbed as Material Design as well as performance improvements with ART (Android Runtime) instead of Dalvik runtime. The new operating system also comes with revamped notifications and Quick settings. One of the biggest changes made in the mobile OS is in terms of Security wherein users can use improved lock screen notifications and Smart Lock feature.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update is 500 MB in size. Users are constantly reminded to back up their respective devices and to have at least 50 percent of battery life. It is also recommended to download the update via WiFi network to avoid changes in data.
