With the announcement of HTC One M8s, Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC was able to reduce the price/performance gap created by the company's One M8 handset. Aesthetically, both devices look the same, even though there is a 0.2 mm difference when the maximum thickness of both smartphones is concerned. In terms of performance however, One M8 wins the race by a fair margin because of its Snapdragon 801 SoC.

Both handsets feature 2 GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 GPU and while HTC's One M8s features a Snapdragon 615, it cannot hold its own against the Qualcomm's former flagship SoC. However, One M8s features a Bluetooth 4.1 module compared to a 4.0 one present inside HTC's previous flagship offering. Additionally, the newly announced handset also possesses a better battery pack than the company's One M8; 2,840 mAh against 2,600 mAh.

The last primary difference separating the two smartphones is the camera sensor. HTC's One M8s possesses a 13 MP rear sensor while One M8 is equipped with a 4 MP "Ultrapixel" sensor. In terms of hardware specifications, One M8s comes very close to HTC's Desire 826. This is because both smartphones feature a 1080p resolution, and the difference between the two devices are as follows:

  • Screen size (Desire 826 has a 5.5 inch screen size while One M8s features a 5 inch form factor)
  • Battery (Desire 826 has a 2,600 mAh battery while One M8s is incorporated with a 2,840 mAh)
  • Price

Considering that HTC One M8 was the previous flagship smartphone of the tech firm, it cannot be stated that One M8s will serve up the same amount of performance as the former because the biggest game changer was present inside One M8; Qualcomm's Snapdragon 801. Given below are the hardware specifications of both smartphones, with a modicum number of differences between them. According to Anandtech, One M8s is going to be priced at £379.99 in the UK, which is equivalent to $564.58 USD.
