Folks over in Canada who have the HTC One M9 will be glad to know that they will be getting the much awaited Android 6.0 Marshmallow soon.

With HTC slowly rolling out the Android 6.0 M upgrade, Canadian owners who have the unlocked version are expected to be getting the Android bump soon. As with other regions, folks who are tied up with mobile carriers may have to wait a bit for the Android 6.0 M bump to happen, which will likely be in early 2016.

Among the features expected to be made available via the update include the Doze app which should help improve the battery life of the device; better permissions when it comes to app access of phone data; Google Now On Tap; native support for fingerprint scanner; and so on.

While this should be welcome news for folks, the thing is that some may end up disappointed. This is because Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow has already started rolling out.

With word that the HTC One M9 is unlikely to make a jump to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, this means that owners will have to go through the regular process and technically get it a bit late.

So with that said, the highly touted emojis which Android 6.0.1 M carries may only be within reach by next year, as well as the enhancements that the most recent Android 6.0.1 M update brings.

For HTC One M9 users who are under carriers, it remains to be seen when Android 6.0 M is made available. Right now, Product Manager Mo Versi simply announced that it will come by "early next year," which comes a bit broad and likely leaves a lot of users scratching their head.

Telus Mobility did promise an Android Marshmallow push scheduled for Jan. 21, 206 for the HTC One M9 (via Techno Buffalo), although such could be up for changes. Just the same, it wouldn't hurt to expect.
