HTC was supposed to ship the first batch of its newly-introduced flagship One M9 yesterday, March 16. Unfortunately, the Taiwan-based tech firm was not able to keep its word and it has a very good reason for it. According to reports, a pressing bug shelved the release, and this bug is one that causes the high-grade device to not boot properly. 

Clearly, the tech giant did not want to ruin the remarkable impression it already embedded on the tech community by sending out a buggy HTC One M9 and being unable to carry out its promise of optimal mobile experience. So they had to make the decision of putting the rollout on ice. 

However, apart from getting rid of the bug, HTC also has to deal with hopping mad customers who already pre-ordered the handset. Not getting the device on the expected day is one thing, but buyers who hoped on getting their hands on the 5-inch beauty a day ago are frustrated, knowing that HTC is making them wait for a couple more days or weeks before they receive the unit. 

Apparently, HTC is moving the shipment of the 32 GB version of the HTC One M9 to March 20 while pre-orders for the 64 GB variant will be fulfilled by the end of the month. According to Focus Taiwan, the publication that broke the news, HTC is allotting the days it asked for in having the new smartphone house the "latest version of software." 

This does not look good for HTC. The issue effortlessly gives Samsung an edge in selling the new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Edge, the flagships enjoying equally massive attention and head turns from the tech world.

The HTC One M9, which is equipped with a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3 GB of RAM and a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera, retails at around 650 euro for the 32 GB model and 715 euro for the 64 GB flavor.
