HTC is expected to put its upcoming flagship smartphone, the HTC One M9, on display at this year's Mobile World Congress 2015, and as the smartphone slowly approaches its announcement date, more and more leaked images of the device are sprouting up. However, sources that are familiar with the Taiwanese company's operations told HTC Source that while the devices are genuine, the leaked photos that circulated online were not images of the actual smartphone that is going to be released. Instead, they were decoys that were merely used for testing purposes.

According to the rumors, the images of the leaked One M9 suggest that the flagship smartphone will have an identical appearance to its predecessor and the only changes made to the device is a single sensor placed at the rear chassis of the smartphone as well as a reshaped lens design

According to HTC Source, the readied version of the company's flagship smartphone is expected to possess an edge-to-edge display, which is the same kind of display present on Samsung's Galaxy Note Edge. In addition, a larger front facing camera will reportedly be present at the center, above the display.

The hardware specifications of the One M9 include Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chipset, which possesses an octa-core processor that is compatible with 64-bit architecture, along with a 1440p display, 3 GB of RAM, and an Adreno 430 GPU.

Earlier, reports were coming in that Qualcomm's flagship chipset is suffering from heating and GPU driver issues, which allegedly prompted Samsung to incorporate its own chipset into its upcoming flagship device, the Galaxy S6. Qualcomm, for its part, has stated that the issue has been resolved with a redesigning of the chipset.

HTC fans looking out for the imminent release of the device should wait until the March 1, as HTC is holding an event on that date and it is, presumably, where the One M9 will make its first official appearance.
