For a while now, there have been talks about a powerful smartphone coming from HTC and now, it looks like the Taiwan-based company is close to unveiling the device. The so-called HTC One X9 recently passed the Chinese certification and regulatory authority TENAA.

The handset's TENAA listing shows that the design matches that of other HTC smartphones. Techno Buffalo points out that it looks a bit like the HTC One A9 even though the handset seems to be from a different lineup based on the naming scheme.

As per the listing, the HTC One X9 will have an octa-core 2.2 GHz processor running although it was not indicated which manufacturer the chipset will come from. Its TENAA jaunt, however, revealed that the device will come in a 5.5-inch Full HD display.

It will apparently offer 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of storage space. It is unclear whether or not there will be more storage options but the smartphone has a microSD card slot on board that will allow users to expand the storage space up to a whopping 1 TB.

The HTC One X9 is expected to come with a 13-MP rear-facing shooter with dual LED flash and a 5-MP front-facing selfie snapper. A 3,000-mAh battery will keep the lights on. During its visit in the certification agency, the handset had Android 5.0.2 Lollipop running.

It is expected that by the time the device comes out, it will have Android 6.0 Marshmallow instead, making it a far more pertinent and promising device. At the moment though, HTC is yet to confirm the existence of the One X9.

It remains a mystery when the HTC One X9 will be launched, although the handset dropping by TENAA hints that it is close to its official unveiling. How close the tech world is remains to be seen but more details should come flooding in.
