A Geekbench listing of what was initially presumed to be the HTC U Play 2 that surfaced online turns out to be that of the Japanese version of the HTC U11 Life.

Bearing the model number HTC X2-HT, the handset was recently spotted on the benchmarking website with an upper midrange 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 660 chipset, 4 GB of RAM, and Android 8.0 Oreo on board. Per Gizmo China, Geekbench listed the incorrect processor for the handset, which is supposed to be the Snapdragon 630 found on the standard model of the U11 Life.

Dubbed as the HTC X2, the new variant is said to be the Android One version of the handset. Most of its specifications are similar to those in the U11 Life, only differing in terms of RAM and storage. It is 1 GB up from the base model's 3 GB RAM and has a bigger 64 GB of internal storage instead of 32 GB.

To recap, the HTC U11 Life comes with a 5.2-inch LCD panel with Full High Definition resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. It has a front mounted fingerprint scanner as well, and 16-megapixel camera on both the rear and front. The main lens can record 4K videos, while the secondary one is capped at 1080p.

All these are packed inside an IP 67-rated water and dust-resistant body and powered by a non-removable 2600 mAh battery. Other features include microSD card slot for expansion, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, and dual-band WiFi. Unfortunately, there is no 3.5-mm audio jack, but free headphones are included in the box, to be plugged into the USB-C charging port.

The HTC X2 can be purchased from the SoftBank-owned network operator Ymobile in either Sapphire Blue or Ice White starting Thursday, Dec. 7. Price details have not been announced yet, but since it offers more RAM, it might cost slightly higher than the $350 standard model.
