The HTC U11 has only been around in the market for months, but rumors are rife that the Taiwan-based handset maker is about to launch a follow-up device, HTC U11 Plus, to their current flagship smartphone. HTC is reported to hold a hardware event this November, although the latest reports suggest that the U11 Plus will not appear anytime soon.

As reported by Tech Radar, HTC has a scheduled keynote event on Nov. 2, although the new hardware to be unveiled at the said event is not yet confirmed. People went on to speculate that the HTC U11 Plus will arrive on that date. However, according to the ever-reliable tech leaker Evan Blass, HTC will need more time to launch the device. Instead, another variant of the HTC U11 is expected to appear next month, which is the HTC U11 Life.

Even as the HTC U11 Plus may not be available until next year, the device could be worth the long wait as Blass teased the impressive specs lineup of the premium smartphone. For one, the HTC U11 Plus will include Snapdragon 835 chipset under the hood, assuring the device's top-notch performance and speed. Qualcomm's high-end handset processor is composed of an octa-core Kryo 280 CPU clocked at 2.45GHz and an Adreno 540 GPU.

The Snapdragon 835 chip included in the HTC U11 Plus is said to feature a modem supporting Category 1 LTE downlink. This feature will promote maximum download speeds up to 1Gbps as users surf the web with the HTC U11 Plus. Maximum data speed is obtained by the modem by utilizing mobile technologies such as 4x carrier aggregation and 256-QAM data modulation.

According to Android Headlines, the HTC U11 Plus will boast a 6-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio for a better and wider viewing experience. The screen display has a WQHD+ resolution and a pixel density of 538ppi. The handset is said to feature an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. The HTC U11 Plus has an impressive battery life as well, with 3,930mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0 for shorter charging time.

The HTC U11 Plus is expected to be released in two variants. The lower variant includes 4GB RAM and 64GB storage capacity, while the top-end variant has bigger RAM and internal storage capacities, which are 6GB and 128GB, respectively. Both storage variants of HTC U11 Plus can be expanded with the use of a microSDXC card.
