The HTC U12 is one of the long awaited flagship smartphones arriving in 2018, but the Chinese tech manufacturer behind the U series has yet to confirm the details about the device's design and specs. However, the features of the still unannounced handset have been leaked via US-based mobile network provided, Verizon. For one, the HTC U12 is revealed to sport a 6-inch Super LCD display with wide aspect ratio and pack a 3,500mAh battery.

As reported by Tech Radar, the specs details of the upcoming HTC U12 were listed on Verizon's Open Development website. The listing shows that the smartphone will get a bezel-less 6-inch display that uses the so-called Super LCD panel. It was expected that HTC's next flagship would make the leap to OLED screen, considering its advantages over LCD, although it has yet to be seen if the U12's Super LCD technology is a much better alternative than OLED. Also, the HTC U12 display is said to feature a WQHD resolution, the same resolution used for the U11 Plus.

The HTC U12 is shown to have a 3,500mAh battery cell, which is larger than that of the U11 model. However, the HTC U11 Plus's battery remains slightly larger. Other features of the flagship device listed in Verizon website include Gorilla Glass protection, IP68 water and dust resistant rating, fast charging, HTC Sense Companion, and Bluetooth 5.0. The U12 is also expected to run the latest Android 8.0 Oreo update.

It is also worth noting that the HTC U12 listing claims that the handset will receive Cat 12 LTE support, which is an older standard compared to the one being used in the current high-end smartphone models, according to GSMArena. It is possible that this part of the listing is erroneous, especially if the smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor that allows faster LTE connectivity.

As for the release date of the HTC U12, it is speculated that the company will hold a special hardware event sometime in May to unveil its 2018 flagship.
