HTC Vive news: Games VR owners need to have

The HTC Vive Official Website

One advantage of the HTC Vive over the Oculus Rift is its Room Scale VR that offers non-seated action. This feature allows Vive users to walk around the room and check out a game at every angle possible.

These are several of many games that can take advantage of the HTC Vive:

1. "Job Simulator: The 2050 Archives" developed by Owlchemy Labs allows players to be a worker in a robot-filled environment. They can be an office worker punching those giant keys on the computer terminal; a chef creating those sandwiches and pizzas; or an auto mechanic replacing those auto parts that need replacement.

The controllers are represented by big white hands on a cartoon-like world.

The official description of the game reads: "Players can relive the glory days of work by simulating the ins and outs of being a gourmet chef, an office worker, a convenience store clerk, and more."

2. "Space Pirate Trainer" is a VR game that can take advantage of HTV Vive's Room Scale VR feature. It has an 80's arcade feel to it because the player is inside an arcade cabinet built during that era and needs to shot down wave after wave of droids. As a space pirate, several weapons and gadgets are also available on the game.

3. "The Gallery: Call of the Starseed," another game that will maximize the HTC Vive, is a fantasy adventure game where one needs to locate a missing sister. Players will be able to experience an immersive gameplay experience with developer Cloudhead Games' Blink Elastic VR Playspace engine. Players will also be experiencing an accurate positional audio that will help in enjoying the dark-themed fantasy game.

"A strange message left by your mischievous twin sister, Elsie, will draw you into a mysterious journey filled with bizarre characters, a sinister presence and awe inspiring adventure. Along the way, you will be assisted by a helpful yet unhinged Professor who may harbor ulterior motives of his own. Your search for Elsie will lead you to an ancient cosmic machine and test your will against a shadowy figure who resides within it," the description says.

4. "Audio Shield" is an exercise game. Players can set up an entire music collection and let the game play it along as it throws a volley of orbs. Gamers need to block the shots by the corresponding colors of the shield at hand. Blue, red and violet, when the hands are joined together.

One will surely be sweating a little even after a 3-minute song.

5. "Hover Junkers" is a post-apocalyptic multiplayer flying and combat game wherein players get to build a ship as big as the actual room space would allow, from the junk that one collects along the game. Players will also be engaging in shootouts, technically hiding behind the ship's own walls. If they create a low wall, then they needs to duck. If it's a high wall, they can hide behind it even in a standing position.

There are several other more games available from Steam VR.
