Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for Huawei Ascend P7

Huawei Ascend P7 gets Android 5.1.1 LollipopHuawei

Huawei is not over and done with its last year's flagship, the Ascend P7 as far as software updates are concerned. The tech firm is now rolling out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to the device, which was released last year with Android 4.4.2 KitKat on board.

The update comes just a few days after Huawei Ascend Mate7 in select regions received the exact same update.

It is currently being sent over the air and a majority of users should have received a notification prompting them to set it up. But for those who haven't, Huawei has provided another way to download the software through their website. Make sure there's room for the 1.26-GB update before grabbing it.

As usual, before making the jump to the ultimate Lollipop build, users should make certain that their Huawei Ascend P7 unit is juiced up to at least 50 percent so that the transition will be smooth. They should download the update via a reliable Wi-Fi connection too.

As noted by media outlets, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop was already in beta testing back in June, which is the same month the Ascend P7 was released. For a reason yet to be identified, the tech firm is just releasing it four months later.

Huawei seems to be busy with Lollipop rollouts, with its current flagship, the Huawei Ascend P8 already receiving an Android 5.0 Lollipop update, which weighs 1.72 GB. As pointed out by GSM Arena, the new device is a bit behind older models when it comes to Lollipop updates.

On the other hand, users in Europe are now eligible to download Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for their Huawei Ascend Mate7.

Just recently, Huawei partnered with Google to bring out the Nexus 6P, one of the first two devices to don the spanking new Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The other one is the Nexus 5X from LG.
