Huawei Ascend P8, the successor of the Ascend P7 (pictured above), to be released in mid-April?Huawei

The release date of Huawei's Ascend P8 is reportedly set in mid-April, skipping the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona in March.

Hints are flying that the rumored Huawei Ascend P8 will be released soon as it was spotted in AnTuTu benchmark revealing some of its specs and features. Moreover, alleged photos of Huawei's flagship smartphone were published in French website NowhereElse from concealed sources. The photos show the device in a protective case.

Some of the purported specifications of the handset are: 5-inch screen panel with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution, octa-core Kirin 930 processor with 64-bit architecture, and 3 GB of RAM. The smartphone will run with Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. As for the camera specs, the handset is rumored to sport a 13-megapixel primary shooter at the back and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The handset will sport a very thin profile of 6 mm thickness rivaling the iPhone 6. In addition, the Huawei Ascend P8 smartphone will have dual SIM capabilities allowing users to be under two networks using one device.

Meanwhile, Huawei sent out invitations to a press conference scheduled a day ahead of the Mobile World Congress. The company is speculated to announce the smaller version of last year's Ascend Mate 7 dubbed as Ascend Mate 7 Compact.

The device is rumored to take center stage in the event and will show off a screen of 5.5 inches with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. It will be powered by HiSilicon Kirin 925 octa-core processor and will sport a 13-megapixel back camera. Other specs are still up for guessing, but an aluminum body and fingerprint sensor are reportedly in the mix.

Huawei still has not revealed its plans for the event and is most probably enlisting the consumers for a surprise. Buyers will just have to wait and see what the Chinese company will offer next month.
