After months of speculation regarding Huawei's next flagship handset, the Chinese tech giant has recently unveiled the Mate 10 and its larger variant, Mate 10 Pro. The latest design of the premium smartphones has followed the trend of reducing the bezels for a wider screen view. Although, the highlight of Huawei Mate 10 is its enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.

As reported by WCCFTech, Huawei Mate 10 sports a 5.9-inch display with 2,560x1,440 screen resolution. The Mate 10 is sticking with the traditional handset design, with a physical home button located at the bottom of the display. The home button also includes a fingerprint scanner underneath.

On the other hand, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro design follows the all-screen display fad, featuring a "FullView" OLED panel with 18:9 aspect ratio. The screen resolution amounts to 2,160x1,080. In spite of the differences in display appearance, both Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro support the HDR10 standard.

Huawei Mate 10 will be arriving in four color variants, namely brown, pink gold, gold, and black. The Mate 10 Pro will be having brown, pink gold, grey, and blue options.

As for the internal hardware of Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, both devices are powered by Kirin 970 processor, which is said to be the neural processing unit or NPU, specially designed to perform high-level tasks involving AI. The NPU will also allow both handsets to learn more intricate commands, The Verge reported. To note, Apple also introduced a dedicated AI chip for AI performance, the A11 Bionic chip, through iPhone 8 and iPhone X.

Both Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro have 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. There is a special Porsche Design model for the Mate 10 Pro, which includes an extra phone variant with 6GB RAM and 256GB storage. The handsets make use of USB Type C port.

The camera department of Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro features a dual lens with f/1.6 aperture. The dual camera setup includes a 20MP color sensor and a supporting 12MP monochrome sensor that will capture extra luminance details. The same dual camera feature was already introduced in Huawei P10 and other previous Huawei flagship devices.

In Europe, Huawei Mate 10 can be ordered in late October for €699, equivalent to $821 U.S. dollars. The Mate 10 Pro will be available starting in November, costing €799 or $939 U.S. dollars. There are still no details regarding the price and release date of Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro in the U.S. market.
