Although it is expected that the next Huawei flagship is due to debut this week, there are still conflicting "leaks" on the specs and features for the new Mate 9. However, reports out of China say that one confirmed feature for the iteration is its dual camera setup.

GizmoChina reports that noted China-based analyst Pan Jiutang has gone on record and confirmed that the Huawei Mate 9 will indeed have a dual cam setup. In addition, the new feature will be the same Leica co-engineered optics as what is on the current-gen P9 flagship. However, the Mate 9 will feature a more premium setup, as the analyst says that the optics will have double the image capture power of the P9, as the Mate 9 will have 20-MP and 12-MP lenses.

The Huawei P9 launched with both 12-MP optics for its main camera.

Meanwhile, although Huawei has yet to come out with confirmed details of the feature, it is expected that the Mate 9 will offer similar image capture specs like phase detection autofocus, dual-tone, dual-LED flash, and HDR.

The dual camera setup is just one of the new supposed features for the Mate 9. Recently, Huawei has already confirmed that the upcoming flagship will sport the newly-launched Kirin 960 chipset, the latest homegrown flagship processor. Meanwhile, supposed specs and features say that there will be two versions, one with the base model having 4 GB of RAM, while the more premium variant will sport a 6-GB one, up to 256 GB of onboard storage, an embedded fingerprint scanner, and an iris sensor, much like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

As for its display, there are reports that instead of two variants, the Mate 9 will launch with only a regular, flat-featured display. Previous rumors have mentioned that the new flagship will come out in both regular and dual-curved edge display variants. In addition, it is said that the base model for the Mate 9 will only offer full HD resolution, while its premium version will feature a QHD display.

It is confirmed that the Mate 9 will debut on Huawei's scheduled press launch on Nov. 3.
