It is said that Huawei will be featuring a dual cam setup for its next flagship. However, instead of two 12-MP assemblies, the Mate 9 will feature one 20-MP setup.

According to Phone Arena, reports out of China mentions that Huawei will feature the Mate 9 with the same dual cam setup found on another company flagship, the P9 series. This means that the upcoming flagship will sport a rear camera with lenses co-engineered by imaging giant Leica. However, there will be major improvements on the Mate 9 setup. Instead of a dual, 12-MP cam for each setup, Huawei will upgrade the main shooter with one 20-MP camera. Should this happen, it will give greater depth to the images captured with the Mate 9's main shooter.

The selfie shooter for the flagship is supposed to get an upgrade, too. It is said that for the Mate 9, Huawei will integrate an 8-MP camera at the front. It is expected, however, that the selfie shooter will be one of Huawei's above-average, "regular" setups, and not a Leica-branded one. This is also what Huawei had done with the current-generation P9 flagship.

Meanwhile, aside from an improved camera setup, the Mate 9 is also expected to come out with a number of upgrades on its specs and features. One noted improvement is the inclusion of "Super Charge Technology." The new flagship will reportedly feature fast charging that will give at least 50 percent battery charge to the device in just 5 minutes. Rumors also say that an ultrafast fingerprint scanner is also one of the new features.

Under the hood, the Mate 9 is expected to come out with the new Kirin 960 chipset, since Huawei is said to be announcing the new processor as early as next week. This dovetails with the projected early November launch date of the Mate 9.

Other purported specs for the flagship include two RAM configurations, with 4 and 6 GB RAM versions. Users could also choose from models with 64, 128, or 256 GB worth of onboard storage capacity.
