Aside from the premium Porsche Design variant of the Mate, a new concept phone will reportedly be launched by Huawei next week.

PlayfulDroid reports that Huawei has sent out invites for another event this month. The China-based event is reportedly the regional launch of the new flagship, the Mate 9. In addition, aside from the lineup presented in Munich, the China press launch is supposedly the debut of the rumored Mate 9 Pro.

Meanwhile, there are speculations suggesting that aside from the full Mate 9 lineup, Huawei will also unveil a concept phone at the Nov. 14 event, with an intended release date for next month. According to GizmoChina, noted analyst Pan Jiutang has already alluded to a concept smartphone by Huawei. Supposedly, Huawei will release the new flagship just in time for the holidays.

While Huawei has not made any comments on the rumors, having a concept phone release this year is highly possible. Another China-based tech maker, Xiaomi, has just recently released its own concept phone the Mi MIX. The new flagship was co-released with Xiaomi's lineup flagship, the Mi Note 2.

As for what fans can expect from the Huawei concept phone, it is likely that the iteration will go head-to-head with the Mi MIX. This means that the new flagship will share similar specs with the current series, the Mate 9 such as a Kirin 960 chipset, as well as 6 GB of RAM. There may also be up to 256 GB of onboard storage under the hood. As a top-tier variant, the concept phone is also likely to come out with the same Leica co-engineered dual-cam setup on the Mate 9. However, one noted improvement over the Mi MIX, which Huawei is likely to follow, is to feature a near bezel-less display, with curved edge features.

However, all of the supposed details on the Huawei concept phone remain as hearsay as the tech maker has yet to issue a statement.
