Huawei is said to release its upcoming flagship as a full lineup, with at least two iterations. Speculations suggest that the top-tier Mate 9 may even launch with $1,300 price tag.

According to perennial leaker Evan Blass, the premium version of the upcoming flagship, the Huawei Mate 9 Pro, will fetch up to $1,300. If this turns out to be true, then it may be one of the most expensive flagships in Huawei's lineup, and also in the market.

However, it remains to be seen if the price tag is just a direct conversion to its supposed Yuan launch price, or if it will be the global suggested retail price. If it is the former, then it will definitely be much higher, as most global releases tend to add up fees depending on their launch market.

Whatever will be the cost, a higher-than-most price tag for the Mate 9 Pro is certainly understandable. Prior to the scheduled launch next month, supposed leaks on its specs and features have already come out. Allegedly, most of the specs for the two Mate 9 iterations will be similar, such as the new Kirin 960 chipset, and a 5.9-inch display. The lineup will also feature a Leica co-engineered dual-cam setup, with a number of improvements like 4X optical zoom.

Other specs include USB Type-C, an ultrafast fingerprint scanner, dual-tone LED flash, and microSD support.

However, where the base version of the Mate 9 features a flat-screen, full HD display, the Mate 9 Pro is expected to sport a QHD screen with a dual curved edge feature. In addition, the top specs of the premium variant include 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of onboard storage, compared with the base version's 4-GB RAM and 64 GB of native storage. The Mate 9 Pro is also the only variant in the lineup to feature support for Google's Daydream VR.

The Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro are expected to appear at a press event on Nov. 3.
