While Huawei has already confirmed that they have no plans of releasing a new flagship next month, speculations on the upcoming Mate 9 flagship are already making their way online. The latest leaks have listed some details on the upcoming flagship.

According to GSM Arena, the specs of the Huawei Mate 9 have been leaked via GFX Bench. Listed specs include a 5.9-inch display with 1080p resolution.

Meanwhile, although the smartphone is unidentified, the industry follower believes that it is the next Huawei flagship, since it also lists an octa-core, HiSilicon Hi3660 chipset. Apparently, this new processor is the rumored Kirin 960 chipset. Though there is no confirmation, Huawei names its processors by versions, and the current Huawei P9 flagship series carries the Kirin 955 chipset, with a serial code of Hi3650. Previous Kirin chipsets from past Huawei flagships listed their serials as Hi3635 for the Kirin 930, and Hi3630 for the Kirin 920.

Other listed specs for the supposed Huawei Mate 9 include 4GB of RAM, 64GB of onboard storage, a 12MP main shooter at the back with 4K recording feature, and an 8MP selfie shooter with full HD recording support.

As to when fans can see the Mate 9, Huawei has already confirmed that the new flagship is not among the company's showcases for next month's IFA event in Berlin. However, some fans expect the Mate 9 to debut before the year ends, given that it is also around the same time period as the Mate 8's launch last year. In addition, Huawei has to come out with new flagships other than its P9 lineup, since other rivals like Samsung and Xiaomi have already made their dual flagship releases.
