Huawei Nova 2S news: Promo images leak ahead of smartphone's Dec. 7 launch; device to sport four cameras

Official renders of the white and black variants of Huawei Nova 2iHuawei

Following a series of leaked renders that have surfaced last week, it seems that the Huawei Nova 2S will finally see the light of day soon. The promotional images for the smartphone were posted recently on the Chinese social network website Weibo, revealing that the Huawei Nova 2S will be officially announced on Dec. 7. Based on the pictures, one of the highlights of the handset would be its dual-lens camera setup, which is equivalent to four snappers.

As reported by Android Headlines, the alleged promo images for Huawei Nova 2S went viral on Weibo last weekend, suggesting that the Shenzhen-based tech firm will unveil the said smartphone early this month. Some tech followers were surprised upon the supposed launch of a new Nova handset in the coming days, given the lack of confirmed reports about the Nova 2S.

The leaked images show the "2S" label on the rumored Huawei Nova device coming this month. Furthermore, the smartphone is shown to sport a total of four cameras. The rear-position dual camera setup will be a combination of single-lens 16-megapixel and 12-megapixel image sensors, while the front-facing or selfie snapper is expected to be a two-lens combo as well. Earlier reports suggest that the front camera will be made of a single 20-megapixel sensor.

Android Headlines compare the leaked design of Huawei Nova 2S to the previously launched flagship phone, Mate 10. Furthermore, the Nova 2S is expected to have a fingerprint reader positioned at the front panel, which could also function as a home button. The smartphone's display will include rounded edges, and the right-hand portion of the six-inch full HD+ display will contain the physical keys. The screen will have a total of 2160 x 1080 pixel resolution.

In terms of the internal hardware, the Huawei Nova 2S will be powered by Kirin 960 octa-core 64-bit processor, accompanied by 6 GB of random access memory (RAM). The device is expected to run the latest Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, as well as the operating system's compatible custom user interface, the Emotion UI (EMUI) 8.0. The Nova 2S packaging will also include the NFC and HiFi audio.

If the leaks turn out to be correct, the Huawei Nova 2S will be the follow-up to the Nova 2 smartphone launched earlier this year. To note, the original Huawei Nova device was introduced back in 2016. Just like the earlier Nova handsets, the Huawei Nova 2S is expected to be available in the Chinese market for the first few months, followed by the international release.
