The Huawei P20 is one of the most anticipated flagship smartphones to launch this year. The upcoming premium handset has big shoes to fill, considering how the Shenzhen-based tech firm gained much attention last year with the Huawei P10 and Mate 10. Based on the latest rumors, the Huawei P20 will make a mark in the smartphone industry with its first ever triple-lens camera build.

As reported by Forbes, Huawei already confirmed the launch of the P20 smartphone on March 27. The grand unveiling will take place at the Grand Palais exhibition hall in the heart of Paris, France. Huawei made no special phrases on its press invitations to tease the public about the next-generation P series phone. At this point, the expectation is the Huawei P20 will retain some of the features of its predecessor. However, rumors are rife that it will introduce a powerful triple-lens rear camera, which is made possible through a partnership with Leica.

If the rumors come into fruition, the Huawei P20 will set the bar pretty high for a top-quality camera phone. In the past years, the trend among the flagship smartphones has been going toward a dual camera build. It appears that Huawei is trying to be ahead of its competitors by featuring three cameras at the rear. The trio of lenses are said to be aligned vertically, and together, the triple-lens setup can capture an image with a total resolution of 40 megapixels. The Huawei P20 camera module will also boast a powerful 5x hybrid zoom feature for both optical and digital mode.

Huawei did not indicate in the press invitations if there will be other P20 variants to be presented. Earlier reports suggest that there will be at least three Huawei P20 models arriving next month. Aside from the regular-sized Huawei P20 model, the company will also launch the larger P20 Plus variant, and the smaller, budget-friendly Huawei P20 Lite. In spite of the difference in sizes, all three P20 models are expected to sport a triple-lens camera setup at the rear, while their front-facing cameras will receive a 24 MP sensor.
