Although fans didn't see Huawei's new flagship at this year's Mobile World Congress, the upcoming Huawei P9 is still on track to release in early 2016. Seemingly confirming this timeline, new images of the upcoming flagship have surfaced online.

According to GSM Arena, leaks out of China have highlighted the upcoming flagship's design and profile. If the images really show the consumer version of the P9 that will reportedly launch early next month, Huawei has apparently retained the design aesthetics of its previous P series phones, particularly the Huawei P8.

The upcoming P9 is showcased as having the same thin metal body and plastic insert on the back. Meanwhile, the new photos also confirm that the Huawei P9 will feature a dual-cam, dual-lens setup. While the assembly itself has not yet been verified, the industry follower referred to Leica, as the company reportedly entered into a recent partnership with Huawei.

Meanwhile, alleged leaks on the P9's internals have made their way online. KnowYourMobile lists the Huawei P9 as featuring the current-gen Kirin 950 chipset, the same SoC found in another Huawei flagship, the Mate 8. Aside from having a top-tier processor, the Huawei P9 is also reported to be featuring at least 3 GB of RAM (with a more premium version shipping out with 4 GB), and a massive 3,900 mAh battery.

It is also said that instead of one flagship iteration, Huawei is building up the upcoming P9 to have four variants. Aside from the Huawei P9 base model, there will also be a P9 Lite, P9 Max and an unnamed premium version of the series.

According to Android Headlines, leaks on the P9 Lite and P9 Max have reportedly already surfaced online. The speculations indicate the P9 Lite will be a mid-range offering, with 2 GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 650 SoC. On the other hand, the P9 Max is said to be sharing the same features as the base model, although it will have the biggest display in the lineup, featuring a 6.2-inch QHD screen.
