When Huawei hinted that it may hold an event on March 9, fans thought that the company may finally be unveiling its next flagship. However, it seems that those who are expecting the Huawei P9 may need to wait a bit longer as the flagship will reportedly launch next month instead.

According to Pocket-Lint, the sources of noted tipster Evan Blass point to an early April outing for the Huawei P9. The industry follower added that a German blog also claimed that the event will be held in London.

While Blass previously noted an April 6 unveiling, recent tweets have made it clear that it is just an estimate and there is no specific launch date yet for the new flagship. Blass stated, "I was told a number of days, not an exact date; may have done the calculation wrong. Will inquire." It can then be expected that the new Huawei P9 will be seen by the first week of April.

Previously, fans expected the Huawei P9 to make its appearance this month. According to GSM Arena, the company already sent out invites for a March 9 event to be held in Berlin. However, the event will not be for the P9, as it turns out that Huawei needs to fine-tune the upcoming flagship. The industry follower said that company officials have confirmed that the delay is due to technical difficulties, particularly with the dual-cam and dual-lens setup on the back of the P9.

The industry follower added that the same company officials let slip some details on the upcoming P9. Reportedly, the new flagship will not use a next-gen Kirin processor. Instead, the Huawei P9 will feature Kirin 950, the same chipset on another Huawei flagship, the Mate 8. In addition, the P9 will launch as a lineup with at least three additional iterations other than the base model.
