Inching closer to the device's launch date, Huawei has released new teaser images of its upcoming flagship, the P9.

The images first seen by GizChina supposedly serve a dual purpose – as a prior teaser for the launch and to showcase one of the most astounding features of the upcoming iteration. Reportedly, the artful images in the teaser were captured using the Huawei P9's main camera. If this is true, then the shooter setup for the new flagship is quite impressive, according to observers.

Phone Arena says that the samples used in the teaser images seem to indicate that the camera setup features speed and long exposure. Since one of the teaser images depicts an underwater scene, it may also be expected that the Huawei P9 will be waterproof.

The teasers themselves also hint at the upcoming dual-camera setup for the main assembly.

Recently, another supposed leak for the upcoming P9 was seen online, further cementing the April 6 launch date. According to GSM Arena, Huawei President Ren Zhengfei was recently seen holding a smartphone that looks like the upcoming P9, particularly because of the dual-cam setup on the back. If this is proven true, then there is already a working version of the flagship iteration, and Huawei has finished its preparations for next month's launch.

Meanwhile, Huawei has yet to offer details on the P9's internals. According to speculations, the new flagship will carry a Kirin 950 chipset with at least 3 GB of RAM and a 5.2-inch full HD display. However, it is already confirmed that instead of a follow-up, Huawei is launching the P9 as a full flagship lineup, with at least four iterations in the series; aside from the base model, there are talks of a P9 Lite, a P9 Max and an unnamed premium version of the flagship.
