Huawei Watch release date news: passes through FCC certification, might arrive earlier?

Huawei's first Android smartwatch, which was unveiled earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015, has made its way recently through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)'s certification, according to reports.

FCC's listing mentions the same expected specifications of the Huawei Watch, according to a recent report by Android Authority, and also confirms it will support 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity.

It was revealed earlier that the new Huawei Watch will be launched sometime around September or October. In terms of the price, Digital Trends reported last month that the Huawei Watch could cost around US$350 to US$450 based on different versions in the United States.

The Huawei Watch is expected to sport a 1.4-inch round AMOLED display screen with a 400 x 400 pixel resolution and protected by sapphire crystal. Android Authority reports that the new smartwatch is 42mm in diameter and 11.3mm in thickness, covered by stainless steel.

Under the hood, the new smartwatch is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and a 300 mAh battery. The watch will have a 512MB RAM and 4GB internal memory storage. Other features include an accelerometer, a gyroscope, Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity, and the heat rate monitor, among others.

The Huawei Watch is expected to be available in black, white, and gold colors. The price of the watch depends on the strap material and colors. The price also varies according to different regions in the world. The gold-colored case with a leather strap costs around US$450.

Since the Huawei Watch has now passed through the FCC's certification, it's possible that it might arrive in the market earlier than previously expected.

Another device that was also unveiled during this year's MWC 2015 event in Barcelona, Spain, is HTC's first wearable fitness device called the "HTC Grip." The HTC Grip recently passed through the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) certification and is expected to be launched exclusively for the U.S. market.
