'Humans' season 1 episode 3: Laura decides to keep Anita after she saves Toby's life

Laura (right) decides to let Anita stay after she saves her son's life, on HumansAMC/ Humans

This week on "Humans," Laura decided to keep Anita after she saved Toby's life, George tried to break free from his synth, Vera, and Peter was livid over the murder cover-up at the brothel.

After finding out from Mattie that Anita doesn't share data like the other synths, Laura decided to return her to the store. She had had enough of the synth creeping around in her home, and she didn't trust her. However, Toby, who developed a bit of a crush on Anita, got on his bike and chased after his mom's car in hopes of saving Anita.

While Anita and Laura were stuck in traffic, the former sensed that a truck using the outside lane was heading for Toby. She got out of the car and took the hit from the truck, which saved Toby's life. Shaken and relieved that Toby is alive, Laura yelled at her son for being reckless. Later, Joe, Sophie, and Mattie arrived and Sophie asked if Anita was going to the hospital. Toby explained what happened, and Laura argued with Joe and told him that Anita doesn't share data like the other synths. Joe had everyone get into a car and put Anita up front, and he left Laura with Toby's bike.

Peter was investigating the murder committed by Niska, and the police chief said that it was an accident. Peter was mad about this, but the chief didn't want people to hear about synths being rebellious. He came home in a foul mood, and it got worse when he saw the synth, Simon, kneading bread with his wife. He shouted at her to get the synth out of his face.

Meanwhile, George managed to trick Vera and he locked her in a room. He headed for the shed to check on Odi and he took him to the car. Vera saw George getting into the car, and upon finding the door locked, she used her strength to break it.

George and Odi were chatting while Odi drove. The former mentioned that he'd like an ice cream, and the latter said he'd get him one. While the car was still running, Odi opened the door, and the car swerved off the road and crashed into a tree. George got out of the car and told Odi to go into the woods.

"If they find you, they'll recycle you," George warned him.

Back at the Hawkins' home, Mattie found Anita in low power mode and decided to hack into her data. Once she started downloading the data to a computer, Anita came to life and screamed, "Help me!" before switching back into regular synth behavior.

Mattie uploaded the data to a website and asked anyone if they understood it. Max found the data and woke up Leo and said that he had found Mia, and she's in London.

Next week, Laura insists that the family take Anita for testing when Mattie tells her that Anita is acting strangely, while Hobb is on Niska's trail.

"Humans" airs on Sundays at 9/8c on AMC.
