Hungarian Bible Society Festival Reaches out to Young Christians

Organised by the Lutheran Church of Hungary, a Lutheran Youth Festival was held over 21-25 July. The Hungarian Bible Society adopted a high-level presence at the festival, demonstrating its important presence over the past 60 years to young Christians as well as drawing more supporters into its future work.

During the festival, the General Secretary of the Hungarian Bible Society, Rev Ottó Pecsuk spoke about the 200-year history of the Bible Society's movement and its connections with the modern history of the Hungarian Bible.

Dr Sándor Cserháti, senior member of the Board and one of the translators of the Hungarian Revised New Translation, gave a talk about the secrets of Bible translation.

The society also educated young people about the products which it supplies, their wares, both printed and audio.

Having enjoyed a positive response from the young Christians at the festival, the Society believes that events of this kind will become “a new way to reach Christian teenagers in Hungary,” according to Rev Pecsuk.
