Competitive first-person shooting game "Hunt: Showdown" will reportedly be in early access this winter.

While the game doesn't have a specific release date as of yet, those excited to test their shooting skills against friends and players all over the globe should be able to do so soon. Signups for the game's closed alpha is currently ongoing, and players who are accepted will be able to the test the game despite its current limitations.

Details regarding what will be available in "Hunt: Showdown's" early access version are currently available on Steam. Here is the statement regarding the game's early access stage:

"Hunt is a work in progress at the moment, and while it is absolutely ready to play, it will see a lot of changes and improvements as we move through Early Access. For example, outside of the planned additions we mentioned in the last question, we want to continue to tweak the gameplay balance, performance, the visuals, and game readability. As it stands, Hunt contains a 1kmĀ² map packed with hand-crafted locations for you to explore, hoards of gruesome monsters for you to fight on your way to even more savage bosses, and more than 40 weapons, tools, and other equipment..."

The game will have a handful of things to do, and more than a few weapons for players to test and run around with, but everything will be subject to both improvement and change. Aside from that, Steam included a warning, asking players to only purchase "Hunt: Showdown" in its early access state if they're sure they want to continue on despite the possible problems the game might encounter this early on.

Set in the Louisiana Swamps, "Hunt: Showdown" will feature an array of enemies both nightmarish and more human in nature. Players must destroy these enemies and use their rewards to purchase more powerful equipment. Aside from that, players will be part of groups called bloodlines.

Aside from the ability to engage other players in combat, players will also be able to team up with others in hopes of surviving against monsters and the harsh environment they are in.
