Hunter Thompson's newest song for Bethel Music is called "Home," and the singer shared on his Facebook page what motivated him to write the song in the first place.

Thompson is a songwriter and worship leader at Bethel Church. Aside from "Home," he also wrote and sang "My Dear," "To Love You Rightly," "Come Awaken Love," and "Swan Song".

"'Home' comes from a personal encounter I had a couple years ago. I was overcome with the desperation to know Jesus... Really know Jesus. Not as some figure head in a distant religion but as a living, breathing man," he said.

Bethel Music also shared a video of Thompson's testimony on their Facebook page. In it, the singer bares his emotion with "clear conviction and honesty."

"In my song I say, 'I've made for you home, a place where love can grow.' And that's personally specific to me because home is something that I've searched for my whole life and I haven't found everywhere I've looked," he narrates.

And during times that Thompson did find "Home". It was with Jesus, and he felt like he could breathe fresh air again.

Thompson shared that the song started with the chorus. "It was just an idea; there was no major revelation or anything."

The bridge of the song was actually a separate idea, and it is something very personal to the singer as well.  It says, "It will never be enough just to know about you."

Thompson said that the statement is a real "heart cry" for Jesus, since it is about people longing to have a real connection with him.

He said there was a desperation to cultivate a relationship with Jesus and he wanted to tell Him: "I have to have You in my life. I have to call You mine."
