The 2014 game "Hyrule Warriors" will have a Nintendo Switch version which will be released this year. This "Definitive Edition" will have all of the game's content that was featured on the original Wii U version, plus some additions that make it a worthy buy for Legend of Zelda fans who own the hybrid console.

The game was announced as part of an unannounced Nintendo Direct video that aims to share what the gaming company has in store for their fans this year.

The first trailer of "Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition" released by developers Koei Tecmo showed much of the exciting battles and quick-paced fights that the original game is known for. It also gives a closer look into the characters that will be available in the game and their respective abilities.

"Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition" for the Switch will have all the missions, maps, and modes that were made available in the Wii U version. In addition, all the downloadable content (DLC) for the game will be included, as well as content from the expanded 3DS version. For instance, Ravio and Yuga from "A Link Between Worlds" will be available as playable characters.

The Definitive Edition also pays homage to the latest Zelda hit on the Switch by including "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" themed costumes for Zelda and Link.

One of the best game modes for the game on Wii is the multiplayer aspect, and "Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition" will support co-op play on the Switch, as well. A local multiplayer mode will be supported, with players using a Joy-con to play together.

"Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition" is expected to be released sometime later this spring. According to the aforementioned Nintendo Direct announcement, other titles that will get the Switch treatment are "The World Ends With You," "Dark Souls Remastered," and "Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze."
