I Wish I Could’ve Been There

I wish I could’ve been there
to see You make the dumb man talk
and hear You command the cripple
to get up from his bed and walk.

I wish I could’ve been there
when You made the blind man see
and made the dead man rise again~
oh, what a sight that would be!

I wish I could’ve been there
when they nailed You to that tree,
to try to ease Your suffering
as You gave Your life for me.

I wish I could’ve been there
on the day of that terrible loss
and help bring Your precious body
down from that blood~stained cross.

I wish I could’ve been there
to see the stone was rolled away
and gaze into the empty tomb
to see Your grave clothes where they lay.

But I know that I’ll be there
to hear the Angels’ trumpets blow
as I rise up into Heaven and walk
with You down those streets of gold.
