In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Walk!

Acts 3: 1- 10

After the advent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost - which is 50 days after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, it is the time when the era of the apostolic churches begun. With the fullness of the power of the Holy Spirit, the apostles of Christ were able to perform amazing miracles.

In this story, the man crippled from birth was able to stand up and walk again. How could this happen? This is not the story of this one single man, but the story of each single one of us. Before we come to know Christ in our life, we were being confined by our insufficiencies and the repetitive life of this world - we had no desire for God or His Kingdom. We always had a strong enthusiasm for a change, but we had no power to move even one step towards this goal. We were lost in direction and we tried everything to fill the deep emptiness inside our spirits.

How can this kind of life come to a new turning point? It’s when we hear the name of Jesus Christ. The life of Jesus Christ shows us the truth which is the unchanging love of God. We are born of His love and we live to respond to His love. Love is the origin of life. We are able to stand up, walk and jump once again through the encouragement of His love.

This change does not just occur in part of our life, but it is a complete transformation. It is a fundamental change only through the eternal truth. Rather than a theory, truth is a life to follow.

When Jesus called his disciples, he said, "Come and see, FOLLOW me." We need to put the word of God into actions after hearing it so our lives can be changed fundamentally. Here at the scene where Apostle Peter and John meet the crippled man, they ordered him with authority, "In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, WALK!" After we hear the name of Jesus, we are called to follow His path.

This crippled man was finally healed from his disease. This is such a beautiful story happening in all of us in this era. Even though we don’t have any splendid image we can always rejoice in the salvation of Jehovah.

"Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails, and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen, and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Saviour." – Habakkuk 3:17-18

May this fullness of joy always be with us. With a heart of gratitude, may all the lips and tongues of this earth praise him forever and return all the glory unto Him.
