Fans have been waiting for a long time for the sequel to "The Incredibles," the 2004 family-friendly hit from Pixar Animation Studios, and when Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger announced in March 2014 that a sequel was in development, there was a lot of speculation about the film's plot. Now, a new theory about the movie has come up courtesy of Moviepilot saying that fans should expect to see a considerable time jump in "The Incredibles 2."

According to the website, the film is set 12 years after the original movie, which would place the father, Robert Parr aka Mr. Incredible, in his early 50's, his wife Helen Parr or Elastigirl in her mid-40's, and their children Violet in her mid-20's and Dash at about 20 or 21. One path that the movie could possibly follow is that of Violet and Dash taking care of their parents and taking over as the main heroes of the world, with the former now having perfect control of her abilities and the latter being faster than ever as he now has the freedom to go anywhere using his superspeed.

Another theory is that the film could focus on the youngest of the Parr family — Jack-Jack. The time jump will see him as a 13-year-old teenager, which is close to Violet's and Dash's age in the first movie. Moviepilot speculates that the second film will see Jack-Jack learning how to control his powers and use them for good, but Dash and Violet might team up to rein in their youngest sibling and not let him fight. Despite this, Jack-Jack will defy them and jump in the fray to show them how powerful and useful he can be.

At this time, the film is developing without an official director attached, but it has been confirmed that Brad Bird — writer and director of the first movie — is the one who is developing the story for the next film.

As for the premiere date, Pixar has not made an announcement regarding this, but according to Cinemablend, the company has slated both Nov. 22, 2017 and June 15, 2018 for their upcoming projects, and it's possible that one of these dates could be for "The Incredibles 2."
