Infiniti unveiled their new design study, the Q Inspiration Concept, at the Detroit Motor Show this week. The concept vehicle previews the luxury automaker's new design language that was developed to accommodate the arrival of advanced powertrains.

"As a new wave of technologies begins to take shape, our Detroit concept car heralds a new generation of Infiniti. A seamless and stunning new design philosophy demonstrating Infiniti artistry in the new age of autonomy and breakthrough drivetrains," said Alfonso Albaisa, senior vice president of Global Design at Infiniti.

The Q Inspiration Concept features a dynamic appearance and a muscular stance. It has coupe-like proportions, an elongated silhouette as well as clean and flowing surfaces. The front fascia is equipped with a double-arch grille, sharp louvers on the hood, blade-like vents and LED strip headlamps.

Due to a compact powertrain, the Q Inspiration Concept is able to have a short hood with a long cabin. This translates to a spacious interior. The cabin has a minimalist design and Infiniti make sure that it would be a calm and enjoyable space for both driver and passengers.

With a human-centric interior, each of the four seats is equipped with a touchscreen display that comes with meditation mode and is able to measure the passenger's biometrics. The screen is also able to display digital content such as films, television shows, news and music.

The cabin also reduces the noise coming from outside the vehicle so that people inside the vehicle can converse comfortably when the digital screens are turned off.

The Q Inspiration Concept is powered by Infiniti's variable compression ratio engine, VC-Turbo. The powertrain is able to continuously adjust the compression ratio in order to optimize the vehicle's performance. The gasoline powertrain is able to deliver the same power and efficiency as hybrid or diesel engines.

Infiniti's ProPilot system, meanwhile, provides the concept vehicle with autonomous driving capabilities. According to the automaker, the system is able to act as a co-pilot while the driver maintains full control of the vehicle. This will allow the vehicle to take over during certain conditions.

The Q Inspiration Concept is a one-off design study and will not be available to purchase. However, the futuristic concept vehicle is expected to inspire Infiniti's upcoming flagship sedan.
