Marvel's "Inhumans" will no longer be a feature-length film that will be released in theaters. Instead, it will now be a television series that will air on ABC. However, the first two episodes will be aired in over 1,000 IMAX theaters in 74 countries and will stay in theaters for two weeks, starting on Labor Day 2017.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this will be the first time that a television series premieres first on theater screens. More often than not, shows start on TV and then launch their final episode in theaters. In some cases, such as "Game of Thrones," they'll premiere their first episode of a new season in theaters but never the very first episode of the first season.

"We think this is a quadruple win - a win for Imax, a win for Marvel, a win for ABC Studios and a win for ABC to launch a show in an innovative way and get attention," explained Disney and ABC Television President Ben Sherwood.

It is also revealed that the first two episodes will be filmed entirely in IMAX and so will subsequent action sequences. Some of these sequences are reportedly going to take place on the Moon. The report also states that IMAX is allegedly paying for the first two episodes.

Neither IMAX nor ABC has confirmed if IMAX is indeed paying for the production of the pilot episodes. However, this is reportedly the case, given that the deal will be more attractive for the producers at ABC and Marvel Television.

However, it is also stated that the ABC show will not replace the planned feature film. Marvel Studios has been planning a feature "Inhumans" film that will take place after the fourth and final "Avengers" movie.

No cast member, director, or script writer has been announced for the show, and it is still uncertain if the series will be tied directly to the planned feature film.
