"Mortal Kombat X" creator Ed now Boon is back to teasing future projects. On his Twitter, he posted an image that give fans doubt about "Injustice 2: Gods Among Us'" early arrival.

Boon posted an image that could be taken to mean either as the number "2" or "11." If it's the former, it should be referring to the said "Injustice: Gods Among Us" sequel. If it is the latter, it is the follow-up to "Mortal Kombat X."

It is expected that "Injustice 2: Gods Among Us" will be officially announced at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016. However, Boon is being extra cryptic about it, messing with some followers on Twitter. When one fan said that he should drop the act because they already know his well-kept secret, which is "Injustice 2: Gods Among Us," he said, "Or is it a (mk) 11?" In another tweet, he said "2 or 11 indeed."

Earlier this week, "Injustice 2: Gods Among Us" was rumored to be unveiled at E3. Media outlets believe that it is too early for a "Mortal Kombat X" sequel to come out, with the game only released last year.

"Injustice: Gods Among Us," on the other hand, was released back in 2013, which makes it the likelier candidate to get a sequel. According to reports, the rumored "Injustice 2" will be released to the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The sequel is said to use the same engine that helped make "Mortal Kombat X," which is no surprise since the game is headed to the current-generation consoles now.

Event Hubs points out that Boon talking and tweeting about DC Comics hints that "Injustice 2" may indeed be on its way. Whether or not it will appear at E3, fans will simply have to wait and see.

E3 will happen June 14 to 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
