NetherRealm Studios is currently working on "Injustice 2," and fans cannot wait to see which characters will be on the fighting video game once it makes its debut next year. It has been three years since "Injustice: Gods Among Us" was released, and players have been trying to get more updates about the sequel, specifically about its guest characters.

Game director Ed Boon has always been active on Twitter, and recently, Boon hinted that there will be "lots of new characters" for "Injustice 2." As a way to connect with fans, Boon started a poll on the microblogging site, asking fans which "Mortal Kombat" characters and other characters they would like to see in the game.

According to the Twitter poll results, the best "Mortal Kombat" guest characters include Subzero, who leads the pack with 52 percent of the votes, followed by Raiden, Johnny Cage, and Jax. The top non-"Mortal Kombat" guest characters as of the moment are Spawn with 45 percent of the votes, followed by Hellboy, Terminator, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Based on the poll results, there is a strong possibility that Subzero, Spawn and Hellboy will be included in the new game, but Boon has yet to officially confirm whether the characters will make an appearance on "Injustice 2."

Boon has also been interacting with followers, telling one fan that it's unlikely that Superboy will be included in the game. The game director also said that it would be "awesome" if a Marvel character ends up being a guest character in the upcoming title.

Meanwhile, other fans have suggested some additional skins and costumes for original characters. One Twitter user asked if NetherRealm can include a Bizarro skin for Superman.

"Is that 2much 2ask for?" added the fan.

Boon replied and said, "That's reasonable.

Another follower asked if it's possible that The Flash will get a Godspeed costume in the new game, and Boon appeared to be on board with the idea as he answered, "LOVE that costume!"

"Injustice 2" is set to be released in 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, iOS and Android.
