The upcoming episode of "Inuyashi: The Last Hero" might see more of Shishigami's internal struggles. Shishigami went from a ruthless killer who would shoot down the trolls online to an approachable and vulnerable teen, as seen from the previous episode.

Shishigami's actions were revealed due to an anonymous source. However, this revelation resulted in his mother Yuko committing suicide after being harassed online as well as by the press. Shishigami's attempts to try and reconnect with her ended up crumbling down as well. He was later taken in by a classmate, Shion Watanabe, who previously admitted her feelings for him. Shion believed that Shishigami was not responsible for the murder and thus, gave him sanctuary in her home.

Come the seventh episode, Shion discovered the facts. She tried talk to him about the possible prime suspect who remains at-large. However, instead of agreeing with what she found out, Shishigami just told her the truth. Shion was not phased, and instead urged him to change. If there was anything to take from the episode before, with Shishigami and Yuko, it seems that Shion filled the void Shishigami had.

It was there that Shishigami decided that Shion as well as her grandmother will be his family now. He even promised Shion that he will be with her "forever." It followed by moving scenes of the two of them flying into the sky, and it certainly felt like Shishigami now had an opportunity to redeem himself. Shion now served to be that beacon of light to him after Yuko passed away.

Shishigami went on to cure people all over the country. Along with Shion, the two of them were anonymously reaching out to those people in need of healing. They had even kept count of the people Shishigami killed and the ones he had healed. However, the episode ended with a task force arriving at Shion's home while they were sleeping, thus bringing back the memories of when he chose to stop his killing spree for his mother's sake, but was confronted by the police before he could turn his life around.

Knowing that he is protecting Shion and her grandmother, this could trigger Shishigami's cold and ruthless side once again. This time, Shishigami may be more determined to keep her out of harm's way because of what happened to his mother.

It seems that while Shishigami is walking down the path to redeem himself, he will still be haunted by his past. The police might use Shion to strike a bargain with Shishigami, and should he go on a rampage, this could set up his inevitable battle with Inuyashiki. This could definitely be expected in the coming episodes.

Will Shishigami keep on the good path? Or will Inuyashiki have to step in? That remains to be seen.

"Inuyashiki: The Last Hero" airs Thurdays, 12:55 a.m. JST / 12:55 p.m. EST on Fuji TV's noitaminA anime block.
