According to the latest reports, Apple has confirmed that this year's WWDC event will take place at their main headquarters in San Jose, California from June 4 to 8. The company is set to introduce the next major updates for the macOS, tvOS, watchOS and iOS. Among all these, Apple is said to be focusing on the new iOS update, meaning that the public could expect a strong lineup of features coming to the iOS 12. However, it is rumored that the iOS 11 follow-up will be made gentler this year.

It appears that the company is more concerned on the system stability and security features of the next iOS version. To note, the iOS 11 has brought some significant features such as the ARKit and Apple Pay Cash, although the software was plagued with a number of bugs and security issues, forcing Apple to release several minor updates to fix the problems. Of course, it is possible that the iOS 12 will have surprises of its own at the WWDC 2018.

It was tipped that the iOS 12 will allow apps from iPhone and iPad to crossover with the macOS for the first time. This multiplatform functionality is also expected in the upcoming macOS 10.14 update, wherein the classic iOS apps will be included in the macOS desktop screen. The Animoji characters could also find their way to the iPad via iOS 12 update, as well as some major ARKit improvements.

Earlier reports suggest that the iOS 12 will introduce a major home screen refresh. The iOS update is also expected to improve the main apps such as Mail and Messages. The iOS 12 will also be made compatible with the CarPlay interface, which Apple's in-car gadget operating system. More improvements in the camera app and photo editing and sharing features will be added. Lastly, the iOS 12 could also be an opportunity for Apple to introduce the dark mode, which will automatically reduce the screen brightness in a low-light environment.
