iOS 8.1 problems: Temporary fixes for issues before Apple's next iOS update

iOS 8.1 problems: Temporary fixes for battery, connectivity and Safari issues available before iOS 8.3 update release in 2015

Following the announcement of a new update for the iOS 8 for iPhone and iPad users, Apple has raked in complaints about various installation and performance problems. While the iOS 8.1 update addresses a number of issues, it is not spared from consumer complaints, including battery problems, rebooting issues, and connectivity concerns.

One of the most common concerns associated with the latest Apple OS update is battery life with which iPhone and iPad users have reported that the battery of their devices, including that of the iPhone 5S and iPad Mini, drains too fast.  Problems in terms of calls, text messages, file sharing and Touch ID have also been reported along with the stability of Safari and AirDrop issues.

Freezing during installation has also been reported as users experienced such issue even on the first day of the iOS 8.1 release. Such update was also found to be ineffective in addressing the slowness of both iPhones and iPads.

When it comes to connectivity, although the iOS 8.1 was expected to address the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth problems, some users have still complained of the same issues that the iOS 8 update made them experience.

Meanwhile, a number of tips have been offered online for users experiencing battery problem issues after updating to the iOS 8.1. These include a force reboot as well as monitoring of location-based notifications, which have often been shown to increase the likelihood of battery drain.

Starting from scratch, users can also reset the settings of their device to get rid of the bugs which may be contributing to a shorter battery life.

For connectivity issues, users can try resetting their network settings to make corrections to network connections that have been wrongly configured. When it comes to Wi-Fi issues, a router reboot has been suggested; performing a complete reset of the device and getting it back to its original factory settings may also help.

Restoring the phone or tablet with the iOS 8.1 update can also help and eliminate the problem.

Similarly, for slow page loading and other issues brought on by Safari, users can reset relevant iOS options, such as clearing the history and website data to get rid of all temporary data. Turning off specific Safari features, such as JavaScript and iCloud can be helpful as well.  An easier alternative, though, would be to download and install another browser app.

The iOS 8.2 and 8.3 updates are said to be in the works.
